About Celso Soares

The condensed version: I'm a Web Designer based in London, currently working at top digital agency Imano, plc. I specialise in Graphic Design for the internet, in front-end coding (XHTML & CSS), in accessibility and in usability.

The long boring version: I left school in 1999 to work as a pre-press graphic designer for the family business, a small printing company with it's own design studio. Being close to such experienced and talented people provided me with great exposure to design and with knowledge that would normally take decades to acquire. In 2001 I got offered a position as a Junior designer at an advertising agency where I learnt HTML and CSS and developed my skills as a designer. These two experiences were the basis for my design education, and I feel blessed to have learnt from such skilled and talented people.

From 2002 till late 2007 I worked as a Freelancer for a wide range of clients. Freelancing allowed me to understand design and it's purpose, and to see things from the client's perspective. Dealing directly with clients gives you a greater understanding of how their businesses work and of how design should always be goal focused, and not an exercise of indulgent self-expression. It was during this period that I developed my "voice" and toned my skills to a very high standard.

In early 2008 I joined Imano, a digital agency in London, to work on one of it's biggest accounts, CitiGroup. I am now the head designer and principal front-end coder for the Citi account. I'm enjoying the challenge and I'm enjoying life :)
